Why Distance Turkish Learning Center?
Technological developments and living conditions of modern
life force us to use our time as effectively as possible.
In a period when globalisation has gained an ever-increasing
importance, it is time, above anything, that determines our
lives. Today, technological developments constitute the basis
most appropriate for language learning, which has come to
be regarded as the most important element for communication.
Today, it is not necessary to actually go to an education
center in order to learn a language. Through the "Distance
Turkish Education Center", you can learn Turkish anywhere
in the world (in any time limit you want).
From now on, whenever you want to gain access to the educational
programmes of a leading and expert organisation in the teaching
of Turkish, the only location other than a A.U. TÖMER branch
will be the "Distance Turkish Learning Center"!

What kind of a language is Turkish?
Turkish is a typical example of an agglutinating languages.
Many grammar structures, such as tenses, possessives and
nominal cases, are formed by using suffixes added to words.
The ordering of elements within the sentence is, unlike that
of languages of Indo-European origin, Subject + Object
+ Verb. For example, the sentence "Ali is going to school"
that is structured as Subject + Verb + Object in English,
has a structure of Subject + Object + Verb in Turkish:
"Ali okula gidiyor", where "okula" means for "to school" and
"gidiyor" is "going".
Also, Turkish does not represent the rigid syntactic restriction
that Indo-European languages possess. Turkish sentence structure
displays flexible features, although this flexibility may
at times bring about some meaning shifts.
For example, in the sentence
Ben eve gidiyorum, (I'm going home) (ben=
I, eve= [to] home, (I'm)
going = gidiyorum)
the constituents of the sentence can be regrouped in six different
ways to display various nuances in meaning, as shown below:
Ben eve
gidiyorum.
Ben gidiyorum
eve
Eve ben
gidiyorum.
Eve gidiyorum
ben.
Gidiyorum
ben eve.
Gidiyorum
eve ben.
Therefore, in the teaching of Turkish, explaining the function
of suffixes and defining syntactic features of Turkish form
the axis around which the teaching of Turkish as a foreign
language revolves.

Which methods and techniques were used?
In order to be able to teach you Turkish in a fast and effective
way on this Internet site, we made use of a synthesis of the
most common language teaching methods and techniques.
Grammar explanations have been given, especially at the
Basic level, in English, so that you may make a comparison
between these structures and structures in your mother tongue.
Visual devices have been used extensively, especially at
the Basic level. Again at the Basic level, many of the activities
that exemplify the target structure have been derived from
authentic samples; the number of authentic samples at this
level has been limited. Explanations at intermediate and advanced
levels have been presented in Turkish and utmost care has
been given to ensure that an environment of one-to-one teaching
can be conveyed via the Internet environment.

The registration email is sent automatically by our servers immediately after you create the account. Usually it only takes a few minutes until you have the email in your inbox. If you didn't receive the email, please check these points:
Too restrictive spam filter
Check your spam filter or contact your internet service provider if the email was wrongly filtered. Some big freemailers like Hotmail, Yahoo, Verizon or GMX use very restrictive spam filters which remove most of the automatically sent emails. If you use a spamfilter that requires a manual confirmation by the sender, it doesn't work. All automatically sent emails will be sent from utom@tomer.ankara.edu.tr. You must enable this email address manually in your spamfilter.
Wrong email address
Did you really enter a working and correct email address? In some cases typos are the reason for an impossible delivery of the email. Does your email address really work? Try to send a test email to yourself to ensure the address is working correctly.
Email routing problems
Sometimes, mailservers have technical problems which may result in a long delay or non delivery. Mails may hang in queues for hours or days because of the high traffic. Mailservers may be overloaded because of spam and worm emails.
If you haven’t received the mail within 12 hours, please click here to send your request.
